Villages in Action will bring its rural scratch programme, From Devon With Love, to The Gateway Theatre in Seaton for the first time this September, presenting an evening of new and developing work by Devon artists.
Taking place on Friday 18 September 2026 at 7.30pm, the event marks the sixth year of the charity’s From Devon With Love programme and the beginning of a new partnership with The Gateway Theatre.
From Devon With Love gives artists an opportunity to share work while it is still being developed, inviting audiences into the creative process. Rather than simply watching a finished production, audience members have the chance to experience new ideas at an early stage and help shape where they might go next.
The Seaton event will take audiences into a variety of vivid and intimate worlds through four bite-sized performances: The Missing Note, Annie Marches On, Windchimes and The Devil’s Picturebook.
Together, the pieces span puppetry, a true local story, a fast-paced tale and a rich blend of folk tale and memoir, offering audiences a taste of the range of work being created in and around Devon.
Alongside the four vignettes, Villages in Action will also welcome a Devon company presenting a further-developed new musical described as fast, playful and intensely human.
Villages in Action is a registered charity established to enliven and empower communities across Devon through engagement with the arts. Its work brings performances and creative experiences to village halls, churches and other community spaces, helping rural audiences access high-quality live arts close to home.
The September event will be the first time Villages in Action has worked with The Gateway Theatre in Seaton.

As well as welcoming audiences for films and live music, we’re committed to supporting local arts and continuing to work with local organisations to bring shows like this to Seaton.”
The performance is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over and takes place at The Gateway Theatre, Seaton, on Friday 18 September at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.50 for adults and £10 for students and are on sale now.
