Seaton Panto is back in collaboration with The Gateway Theatre for the first community pantomime in 6 years.
Inspired by the overwhelming support received at an Open Evening in January, the amateur theatre group will return in 2027, bringing together new and familiar faces for its next chapter.
Following months of planning and preparation, Seaton Panto is set to return to the stage in February 2027 with a magical production of The Wizard of Oz at The Gateway Theatre. The show will be the group’s first pantomime since The Snow Queen delighted audiences in 2020, marking a welcome revival of this much-loved local tradition.
Before the Coronavirus pandemic, Seaton Panto was a longstanding February tradition and a much-anticipated fixture in the local community calendar. Its return in 2027 will see this much-loved event reclaim its place at the heart of Seaton’s cultural and community life.
Performances will take place between 11th and 14th February, with tickets going on sale from 1st September. Further ticketing and performance details will be confirmed over the coming months.
A spokesperson from The Gateway Theatre said “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing Seaton Panto back in 2027. After such a positive response from the community, it’s been fantastic to see both new and returning members come together to revive this much-loved tradition. We can’t wait to welcome audiences back to the theatre for a magical week of live performance.”
Marie from Seaton Panto said “Pantomime has a special place in my heart and the hearts of so many people, and it’s wonderful to be part of bringing it back to our community. We have an enthusiastic team including Debbie Bradley as our director and we can’t wait to share the laughter, magic, and excitement with audiences once again.”
Members of the community are still encouraged to get involved in Seaton Panto by attending an Introduction Evening on 3 September at 7pm. Open auditions will take place on 10 September at 7pm, with rehearsals held every Monday evening from 5 October, all taking place at The Gateway Theatre.
