At The Gateway Theatre Seaton, we recognise that a traditional cinema environment can sometimes feel overwhelming for guests who are neurodivergent, living with dementia, or anyone who may benefit from additional support during their visit.
Our relaxed screenings are designed to create a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable enjoying the magic of the big screen together.
Guests are welcome to move around the auditorium, leave and return whenever needed, or simply enjoy the film in a way that feels right for them. We want everyone to feel relaxed, included, and part of the wider Gateway community.
If you require any assistance during your visit, our friendly cinema hosts and volunteers will be on hand and happy to help.
WHAT'S DIFFERENT IN A RELAXED SCREENING?
Lighting
The auditorium lights will be kept at a low level rather than fully dark throughout the screening.
Volume
The film volume will be reduced to create a more comfortable and relaxed viewing experience.
SEATING
There is no set seating, and guests are free to move around the auditorium during the film as needed.
ADVERTS
No adverts or trailers will play before the film.
STAFF & VOLUNTEERS
Fewer staff and volunteers will be present during the screening to help create a calmer and more relaxed environment.
