Touring Comedian Max Wilton was riding high. Appearances on Live at the Apollo, and before it was scrapped, Mock the Week, had ensured that his tours sold out.

However, as his first night at The Gateway Theatre was about to start, a runner doing the 15-minute call to the stage, found Max Wilton dead in his dressing room. The emergency services were called, and it soon became clear that his death had not been a natural one. Police, in the form of Detective Chief Inspector Charles Appleby, arrived and began an investigation.

He has arranged to meet his suspects and calls on those present to help him with his enquiries. He had quickly identified that he had four key suspects.

All the clues will be there to catch the killer, but will they be successfully deduced. Detective Chief Inspector Appleby, with the help of the other guests present, is determined to get the truth before the evening is over…
