WHO ARE WE?
This much‑loved public building—an icon at the heart of Seaton—was at risk of being sold in 2010 after years of declining use, with only a small number of groups still organising events.
In response, a dedicated group of local residents came together to take over the day‑to‑day running of the venue and demonstrate its potential as a thriving theatre. Within five years, they had secured sustainable income streams and, working closely with both the County and Town Councils, successfully negotiated the Asset Management Transfer of the building back into community ownership.
In 2016, Seaton’s Voice formally became The Gateway Theatre Charity, marking a new chapter in the building’s history and restoring its place as a vibrant hub at the heart of the community.
Bringing Entertainment To Seaton
Our venue enables us to host a wide and varied programme of events—from high‑energy standing live music gigs to relaxed afternoon film screenings. Unlike many venues, we can adapt our spaces to create the perfect atmosphere for each event, offering cabaret‑style seating, traditional theatre layouts, or standing configurations to suit the occasion.
