The Gateway Theatre Charity Celebrates 10 Years

On 22 June 2016, the Seaton Gateway Theatre Charity was established. Ten years on, The Gateway Theatre remains Seaton’s leading events venue and one of the most successful entertainment spaces in the area.

Over the coming months, we’ll be marking our 10th anniversary with a series of special events, nostalgic throwbacks, and celebrations of our journey so far. Most importantly, we’ll be celebrating you—our wonderful audiences. Without your continued support, The Gateway Theatre would not be where it is today.

Back in 2010, Seaton Town Hall faced the threat of being sold. Thanks to the determination of a group of local residents who formed Seaton’s Voice, alongside the support of Seaton Town Council, the building was saved and its potential as a thriving theatre was realised.

Today, The Gateway Theatre is enjoying its strongest period since the pandemic, with the most diverse programme in its history. From films and live music to the much-anticipated return of Seaton Panto, we continue to bring a wide range of entertainment to our community.

To everyone who has walked through our doors over the past decade, thank you. Every year, we welcome people of all ages—from school students attending performances and events for older residents who value the opportunity to connect with others and enjoy live entertainment in a welcoming environment.

What many people don’t realise is that we’re a charity. Every ticket purchased and every drink sold is reinvested directly back into the venue, helping us maintain and improve the theatre for future generations. Donations are welcomed throughout the year via our website and make a real difference to what we can achieve.

The next five months of 2026 are shaping up to be our most exciting yet, with an incredible programme of events planned as part of our anniversary celebrations. We can’t wait for you to be part of it.
